Edna Smith, Directress
Edna Smith began her work with young children at the age of 12 when she taught a Sunday School class of three-year-olds. When she finished high school she soon married and had three children. When they were still pre-schoolers, she began her college studies.
Edna has an Associate Degree in Child Development from Parkersburg Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Trinity College, and Received her Primary Montessori Diploma from the Montessori Institute of Los Angeles. She began her training in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in the Fall of 1993 when she began her Level I Training in Fort Wayne, Indiana while she worked as a volunteer at Grace United Methodist Church. She was Directing a Montessori School at that time as well. She later became the Director of Children's Ministries there and opened a Christian Montessori with daily Atria. She received her Level 2 Training at the National Training held in Arizona. Her Level 3 training was held at Grace Church in Kokomo, Indiana
While at Grace Church she developed a Toddler Atrium for children ages one through three and was able to present a workshop on this at the Weaving Our Gifts Conference in Connecticut. She has assisted or hosted trainings at all three levels with Carol Dittberner, Emily Watroba, Diane Barry and Maria Ludlow. She is now a National Trainer.
She has worked in Early Childhood Education for over 40 years and in Montessori for 27 of those years, and currently provides a daily Atria experience for the children of Agape Garden Montessori School in Kokomo, Indiana. |

Molly Shumaker, Toddler Directress
Molly has worked in early childhood education for many years in Alaska, Mississippi, and Kokomo, IN. She is currently the Directress of our toddlers community where she provides a caring environment for one through three year olds. She is continuing her child development studies and has completed workshops on Montessori Theory, as well as a variety of classes on child-related issues. While in Alaska she completed Child Care Certification at the United State Air Force Base. |
